I was born and raised in east Germany and for my study in geology I went to Potsdam, since 2016 I live in a small town near to Cologne. I love to travel and because of my scientific work I had the chance to visit exiting places all over the world (e.g. Tibetan Plateau) with my camera. Some pictures on this page resulting from scientific fieldwork or exhibitions.

To me photography is exciting and relaxing at the same time – it offers a way to hold on to unique moments in nature and our environment. In this context especially black and white photography provide great opportunities, because colours easily distract. Without colour the picture is just reduced in contrast, composition, light, structure and shape. Andry Hery said, “ To see in colour is a delight for the eye, but to see in black and white is a delight for the soul”.

The most inspiring black and white artworks for me are from Michael Kenna and Josef Hoflehner. Both photographers demonstrate that photography is more than just a click. It is the composition of shapes, lines and formes in interaction with light and time.
